Need advice replacing antenna on '97 C230

I have a '97 C230 and need to replace my antenna. The mast snapped at the bottom and is now hanging off my car, the actual power mechanism still works. Can I just replace the mast or do i need to replace the whole antenna system??? Is it something I can do easily myself or should I take it somewhere?? Any tips on these questions or how to fix would be greatly appreciated.

You can just replace the attenna mast.

Turn the radio on and remove the old mast. Pull it straight out. Make sure you get all of the old mast including the nylon gears attached to the bottom of it. If the nylon at the bottom of the attenna breaks, you'll have to take apart the motor to remove it all.

Feed the new attenna into the hole until it stops and have someone turn off the radio. The turning gears in the motor will grap the nylon gears at the bottom of the attenna and feed it back in. Directions usually come with the new attenna mast.

DO NOT bend or break the attenna mast at all. One little 'kink' in it will screw it all up. And DON"T clean your attenna mast with WD 40, use only special mast lube.

If your motor is ruined, you can buy a new one from Mercedes for a few hundred bucks or there's people on ebay selling universal automatic attennas and motors that will fit for under $50 if it doesn't matter to you.
