RE: HU replacement, and no i went to 3 places and cant do it
Does your current setup work? From your original post, I got the impression that you had the cassette-only Bose setup with the fiber optic connections.
If that's the case, www.crutchfield.com has a 6-disc CD changer that will plug right in to the car's factory harness. At $600, it's pricey, but it will let you keep the CD changer controls on your factory cassette deck, as well as keep the steering wheel controls. The fiber optic line for the factory CD changer is probably in your car already, even though it didn't come from the factory with the changer.
Crutchfield may be out-of-stock on the mounting bracket, but any audio shop should be able to handle that.
Go to www.crutchfield.com and do a search on "581merc99", and that will pull up the CD changer.
The part number for the bracket is "581mbbrckt", and it's $24.99. Ignore the description that says the bracket is for S-class vehicles - it's the right one for the CLK as well.
For this changer to work, your existing head unit needs to have the CD changer contols built into it.
