Dealer voided maintenance agreement?
Hi everyone - newbie stopping by to ask a quick question. [:)]
We actually have two Benzes: the '04 C240 wagon and an '05 CLK320 convertible. Both are on two-year leases, and both allegedly came with maintenance contracts for free Service A and B at that dealer.
I took the CLK in for Service A about a month ago, and to my shock was presented with a bill for $155. When I asked why they were charging for the service all of a sudden (they'd always done it free before, per the maintenance agreement), the SA told me that the dealership had cancelled all the maintenance agreements on cars '05 and newer, and they're no longer offering them on new purchases or leases. They never called, wrote, or otherwise attempted in any way to notify us of the change in service. Oddly, my wagon is still covered; I took that in the week after the CLK and when I asked for the bill, the same SA said "no charge, it's covered in your maintenance agreement, see you later."
1) Is cancelling an agreement without notice even legal?
2) Do I have any recourse against the dealer? (Yes, I know it's been a while since the incident, but I just found your forum now and thought I'd ask...)
Any help would be much appreciated - thanks in advance. [:)]
