Need help with my ML320

I have 2 reoccuring codes
po 170
po 173
left and right adaptive reached their limit

ANy common cause for these 2 codes?
I would believe something is causing either a steady rich or steady lean condition.
Changed the reg filter assembly as it seemed as though fuel was leaking thru the vacuum port,But after 2 drive cycles,THe codes are back
Thanks in advance for any help

RE: Need help with my ML320

The codes are for Mass Air Flow Sensor. It is located inline right after your air filter and before the intake. About a 5 minute DIY repair. You may possibly be able to clean it with a good throttle body cleaner. This is usually a temporary fix and the codes will usually come back.

For specific ML 320 problems in the future, you may be more sucessful posting in the W163 Forum.

RE: Need help with my ML320

Buy the maf sensor and the problem will be fixed. The maf is as common as a cold. This is the weakest electrical component Benz has. Good luck. You may need somebody to reset self-adaptation for the fuel mixture.

RE: Need help with my ML320

CHanged it today, local store 298, Benz dealer 219
Installed and drove it for 30 minutes problem solved
The long term fuel trims were buried at 34.5% while driving with my scanner the last 2 days after iput the new one in, I drove it and watched the long term trims steadily lower the farther i drove and leveled off as about 3-7%.
THanks for the help,I had cleaned it before but not so easy to get inside
THis problem also caused a slightly weird acting trans,Which is now cured also

Hello, some one can help me with this. I change my MAF from a ml 320, but the new one works worst than the older one.
Do I need any specific steps for change it?
