190D AUTOMATIC GEARBOX SEVERE PROBLEM!
I realy hope that someone out there can help with a solution to this problem.. When i slow down almost to a stop from top gear the gearbox makes an almighty bang and comes out of drive, if i'm in third gear then slow this does not happen. I have tried to check the transmission fluid pressure to get a clue to whats happening, when i have put a pressure guage in the system to monitor the transmission pressure it seems that when the gearbox should go down to first the fluid pressure drops sudenly and the car comes out of drive, the breakband releases totaly and there is an almighty bang as this happens. thinking that a centrafugal component next to the pump was to blame i replaced it and although it seemed to have cured the problem when i tried to drive the next day the problem was back again as bad as before, so although replacing that component seemed to have some short term effect it does not seem to be the problem,i must have done something by replacing the component for the situation to have changed even if it was very temporary, what could be causing this?
