Auto-gearbox clunk 190d 2.5
i'm having problems with my auto-gear box and cannot work out whats wrong.
When i try to slow down, getting to about ten mph the gear shift from 4th down is violent and crashes down with a bang, the break band seems to release totally into freewheel.
There is no gear dammage as such it's just the severe change down, on checking the pressure with a pressure guage added into the system the preasure drops suddenly giving the dramatic change down.
Oddly though if driving in third then slowing down this does not happen. but driving in fourth then manually changing down to third the same thing 'Almost always' happens with a hard change down but not every time though! I hope someone out there knows a fix for this, I have been totally frustrated with every thing i try failing.
I thought that the problem may lie with the centrafugal valve thingy by the pump which i thought felt weak and did not have much tension and seemed a little worn out, so i replaced it thinking that was the problem..but this had very little effect. and as that job took some time to do you can immagine my frustration...Help!
