Reliable Atlanta area Mechanic

My wife’s 99 SLK230 has had a ton of problems lately, and we have had horrible experiences with the local MB dealer in Buckhead (Atlanta, GA USA). Does anyone else here that have any other suggestions for reliable mechanics in Georgia? I don’t mind using a non-dealer, mechanic, as long as they are trained to fix Mercedes. In fact, I almost prefer a non-dealer mechanic, because in my experience they tend to be more honest. I am willing to drive up to 50 miles from the city of Atlanta to find a reliable mechanic. I had my regular mechanic suggest a place called Benz Werkz in Roswell, GA. But I called and it appears that place is out of business. Any suggestions for mechanics would be much appreciated.

RE: Reliable Atlanta area Mechanic

I've heard good things about MB of South Atlanta (aka Carriage House), and just started going there. So far, so good. They haven't been perfect, but when they messed up, they went to great lengths to set things right. Might be close to your 50-mile limit.

I went to RBM (on Roswell Rd) a couple years ago for a check-engine-light, and they seemed fine. I know one or two other people who go there, and have had done ok with them. I had some problems with them many years ago, but I'm sure staff has turned over and things have changed since then.

As far as the service depts of the other dealers in Atlanta... well, I can't say something nice, so I won't say anything. [:p]

I took my old Mercedes to an independent garage called Reliance, which specializes in MBs. They're in Marietta, on 120, a couple lights east of the Big Chicken. Always pretty happy with them, but after I got a new car which included free service (at a dealer)...

Feel free to PM me if you want any additional info.
