Can't find an address in nav unit

I'm looking for directions to a college and my navigation unit (2005 edition) won't even recognize that there IS an address at that location. Does anyone know why it won't recognize an address that's been there for thirty years?

RE: Can't find an address in nav unit

The nav disc may define the city differently than you think it should. Recently I was looking for a building in Columbia, MD; Nav wouldn't recognize it. I drove there (knew where it was anyway), and saved current location on arrival - which Nav thinks is in Ellicott City (a town adjacent to Columbia).

Once looking for my own home address, Nav would not recognize it in Baltimore, MD (despite having a Baltimore zip code). Nav actually placed it more accurately in the Baltimore suburb of Gwynn Oak. If I had entered that as the city, Nav would have found it.

Same is true for cities and counties having the same name. If in the county, you may have to select "unincorporated" from the city list.

If all else fails, re-setting the region in which you're looking (if you have a DVD system) sometimes helps.
