Just a thought for Herr Benz.
I was reading a Daimler Benz history thing written by some Norwegian enthusiast club. One chapter caught my attention. It was about the paradox in omitting the Benz name in DaimlerChrysler. It said; Carl Benz meant everything to car development. Gottlieb Daimler meant a great deal. Mercedes Jellinek meant nothing. Still, Mercedes is on everybodys lips, while Benz is even out of the company name. Or something like that.
One can say that her father did a great deal for Daimler, but I don't think he contributed to car development much more than any other really rich customer could.
I have already in another thread posted my theory of the conception of the new company name. Once you break the spirit, it's gone.
Maybe that's why I like BenzWorld so much? I truely feel his spirit in several of the guys in this gang. I won't say who. I think I've seen Walter P here too.
The germans say the two gentlemen Benz and Daimler never met, some say they even didn't know of each other. Never met, maybe. But not knowing of each other? I doubt that very much.
Anyway, when I fill my car in Norway, I pump "bensin". As you can see, it's a norwegification of the German benzin. I've never heard of daimlerin or chryslerine before. We do have diesel though. Not bad.
