Which one is better off for highway cruise?

Hi guys,
Thanks for your precious answers in advance.

I just got freshed out from college and was lucky enough to be hired by an independent small-size business consulting company. Due to company’s marketing plan of the company I am traveling between Los Angeles and Phoenix, Arizona area at least every two week (it is approximately little bit over 350 miles trip all the way to the end of I-10 from Phoenix).

So, I am looking for a car around $15,000 (if I stretched more, maybe $20,000)[:D] which can be powerful and solid on highway cruise.

I used to have W126. I could not forget the feeling of highway cruise in that Mercedes-Benz.

Which choice will better off?
I am looking at one or two year old used Chevy Impala, Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, and a lot older with higher mileage used Mercedes-Benzes such as W203 or W210 from late 90s.
I really do want Mercedes-Benz although most of them are older with higher mileage.

One thing I worry, is it going to be hard to maintain if I take such a long trip every two week on Mercedes-Benz that has around 70k miles?

If any of you can share your experience who uses your Mercedes-Benzes on highway (I mean, long trips), that will be the best answer for me.

That is a beauty!! I like the faux-Designo leather and I'm sure you could color match those lower panels.

I love the S-Class coupes but an old V12 without warranty protection might just be asking for it. I don't think the kid has such deep pockets yet. Also, 12 cylinders is a lot for one guy to carry around all the time. I know, I'm a killjoy. I'd probably recommend an Accord LOL!

Or maybe he could get a C-Class with an extended warranty, if he wants to be in a Benz.

But please--no Impala. They're just plain butt-ugly.

Should be able to pickup a nice 2000 or newer W210 in that price range.

Buy an extended warranty for peace of mind.

It should all easily fit in the $15K to $20K range.

A lot nicer highway cruiser would be harder to find.

My 2000 E320 was $18K a year ago.

I get between 28 and 32 on the highway -- and a lot safer and more fun than an Accord or Camry[:D]

I have been working from my home in Southern Cal, through my kids in NM and Co and finally in Long Island New York!
I have had 4 W140 S Class Coupes! 2-500's 2-600's......get a 600 and by an aftermarket warranty checking with dealers and shops of course!
*** There is nothing more calming than 12 cyl's humming through the US!
Note: Safety! I was sitting at a red light, A twittering 18 year old girl barrelled into my Gold 97 s600 basking me into the car ahead of me. The result! The car who hit me totalled, the car I was pushed into totalled...She hit me at 67mph! I opened the door and walked out, everyone else ambulances!!! I go double the amount I paid for the car! flew to Ohio and bought another one!!! Love it! (P.S. Driving 80/90 and pressing the throttle to pass is hot knife through butter!) And having that kind of power gives you the sense "There is a place and time for that power" so cruising becomes a way of life!
Good Luck!

For 15-20k you can get into a low miles R129 SL500 roadster if you're in a soft top/hard top mood. They're heavy and have excellent road manners. At a steady 80 mph mine gets 25 mpg. Since you're a young man, the "babe appeal" of a roadster might be the ticket.

They have surprising storage for luggage, and with the hard top in place, they are as quiet as a coupe. They'll turn and stop like they're supposed to (especially with the AMG trim package), they're relatively simple (struts and shocks, you can reach stuff on the motor), and the drivetrain (M113 motor/722 transmission) is about as bulletproof as any MB drivetrain.

Oh, and they're limited to 155 mph but will cruise in three figures without breathing hard, and the pop-up roll bar and air bags make it as safe as a roadster can be.
