1983 240D question.

Ive heard that the 240D diesel engine is not that fast, can you put a turbo on it to make it faster? or anything at all that will give it more speed?

RE: 1983 240D question.

It wiull hurt the engine pretty badly, if thats what you want to know.

And it's fast by whose standards?
haha.
If you driove a 230E a 240D 4 speed will ahve a baout the same performance.

I owned a 230E ['85] for a whilke and sitll keep it in a agarage in Texas for when i go visit and honestly, they perform about the same.

The fastest 240D is the old w115 bopdy style.

RE: 1983 240D question.

240D is a 4cylinder diesel trying to pull a pretty heavy body.

It is slow but economical. If you want performance -- sell the 240D and get a 300D (turbo) of the same vintage ( 1982 - 1985 ).

You could rip the engine out and put the 3.0 litre turbo diesel engine in and spend twice the money you would spend selling the 240D and getting something with the performance you want IMHO [|)]
