RE: Electromagnetic cooling fan problem

No answer for my problem about a 190 D cooling fan which refuses to clutch in? Do I have to change the entire fan & clutch?
many thanks

RE: Electromagnetic cooling fan problem

check the sensor on top of the engine ground it see if fan cuts on, you are talking about the fan in front of the water pump right? they rarely have a bad electromagnetic clutch some people wire them to stay on does the aux fan work? car running hot? also check the fuse.

RE: Electromagnetic cooling fan problem

Thanks for the answer,

I have tried everything even to short out the sensor on the top of the engine with a 2,5 mm copper wire. It dit clutch in a few times, but no more. The engine doesn't run so hot, but I wouldn't take it for a long drive on a hot day.
Fuses are ok.
I got no auxiliary fan.
So I was thinking about getting an auxiliary fan and change it over.
I would prefer to stay with the the original setting.

What do you think? [8D]

You probably just need the clutch.

Hi,

I am just curious; how did you determine that shorting out that sensor would not cause other problems?

Thank and hope you get your problem fixed.

Joe
