RE: cruise control 300E - 1990

You need a mechanic to connect a diagnostic computer to your car to figure out what's up.

Maybe you'll be lucky and it's just a fuse or two.

You did have a mechanic check the car out before you purchased it didn't you[:I]

Hello guys,
I have a cruise control problem too. I can feel it when I´m in the free way @ 70MPH with cruise ON, the car makes some continuously and sharp speed adjustments. Like when someone give and release gas many times . Some body Know what could be?

The best.

Jose

The 1990 is pre-OBDII, so no diagnostic computer, but there are "blink codes" that provide general diagnostics.

The cruise control in this year has a couple of known issues, The controller (silver box under passenger seat carpet) can develop open solder joints; the actuator (under intake manifold) fails; or something as simple as speedometer cable stretch (does the needle bounce around at low speed?) can mess up the cruise control.
