1995 E320 climate control help

My 1995 E320 climate control just went into an intermittent state where the fans and fan control, and auto control do not work. Then everything turns on and works fine. Then it does not work fine. A/c etc work...just seems like a loose wire or short or what...any help in troubleshooting?????

RE: 1995 E320 climate control help

Shade Tree Garage in Morristown found a fuse just in front of the main fuse panel that had an intermittent hairline crack in the fuse. The new fuse was $1.50. Labor was more....e-mail me for total cost.

How is John doing over there at Shadetree? Is he even alive still?

RE: 1995 E320 climate control help

Sounds like a classic case of failure in the Blower Motor Regulator.

You can access the blower - and it's on top of it - under the dash on the passenger side. You loosen the plate and drop it down.

The part costs about $150 and a screwdriver, nut driver and a soldering iron is needed. It has thermal paste and a heat sink. Attach and use the paste carefully.

Autohaus Arizona carries two versions of the part - french and german - pick german if either seems OK.

If you take it to a independent shop - figure on $250 to $300. The dealer more like $400

Good luck
