Me being the smart guy that I am, jumped in the river last night (alcohol had nothing to do with it, really, I swear) with my keys in my pocket. Now I can't start my car. I can get in w/ the mechanical, but the electronic key is being stupid. Tried drying the key out last night. Perhaps it needs a new battery. Any ideas? Thanks.
I had also problems with my car key and water. Had to order a new one from Germany + programming. I could use my warranty, otherwise the new key is 130$ + 60$ programming here in Sweden.
At least you were smart to remember the mechanical key opens the doors.
I had a roadside call that said "customers key not working".
Really all it was, the batteries died in the key, and she could not unlock the doors. She stood there for a half hour waiting for arrival, I come to find out that she could not get the doors unlocked, not that it was not starting the car. Popped out the mechanical key, unlocked it for her, and she got in, and drove away. She never even said "Oh, I didn't think of that." The key does not need working batteries to start the car, but come on. Have we so adjusted to the remote unlocking that the mechanical key is too much trouble? It was unreal. [|)]
