HARMONIC BALANCER RECALL

This message is to inform everyone that I have received a Safety Recall letter from Mercedes Benz. The Safety Recall # 2005-02003, identifies the harmanonic balancer pulley for certain model year 1998 - 2001 vehicles. The Harmonic Balancer pulley on the front of the engine's crankshaft which drives a serpentine belt that powers the alternator, power steering pump, air conditioner and other vehicle accessories. Due to a supplier quality problem the harmonic balancer pulley in certain model year 1998 - 2001 vehicles may, depending upon vehicle use characteristics, be subject to high under-hood temperatures that can, over a long period of time, cause it to deteriorate. Prior to a harmonic balancer pulley deteriorating to a point of affecting vehicle performance and drivability, it will create several different type of driver warnings such as noticeable engine vibrations.

Please check with your local Mercedes Benz dealer and identify that you have a vechile between this year as identified and they will be able to change it and also refund you for the full amount. If you have any problems getting your money back or service please contact Mercedes Benz of USA and they will be happy to assit.
