Shaking engine while idle

Hello,

I just purchsed a 1989 300E.

I have a couple of problems:

1) The car seems to shake a little bit while idle as if it needed a tune up. What could that be, I changed the sparkplugs and nothing.

2) The exhaust system is not the correct one for the car and also has a hole. Will replacing it with the proper one stop the shaking?

3) The AC works at times. When it works it is cold, but sometimes it just is the same as ventilation. The fan that cools the small AC "radiator" seems to never turn on. How can I check this? Could this be the problem?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Juan A. Figueroa.

RE: Shaking engine while idle

The shaking could be bad engine mounts, that has happened to me before. Nothing too major a job or bill.

Replacing the exhaust will most likely not stop the engine shaking, but if you plan to pass inspection then you need a new one.

You might need some A/C repair, TBH the W124 air conditioning is not the best and is actually very mediocre
