RE: What simple things can i do to my 190E for more power?
The W201 is one of the landmark classic designs from Mercedes-Benz genius designers, Bruno Sacco. The way he liked to describe it was "diamond cut" and was a big departure, with it's angular lines and high tail, compared to the previous sedans. Despite being the lowest priced model in the line, it was the design bed for the multi-link rear suspension was also the platform that they used to return to circuit racing. Not bad for the "kinder-benz."
The six cylinder M103 that you have was designed to compete against the bigger BMW sedans of that day. Amazing that the six was shoehorned into the engine bay designed for an inline four, but it works and is just a few HP shy of what a 2.3-16 puts out, but with more useable HP and torque at the low end of the rpm range and much smoother power delivery.
The M103 was bored and stroked out to displace 3.2L by AMG to create the "Baby Hammer" that put out 78 more horses (234 bhp)and did 0-60 in 6.2 sec but that was a $15,450 option at the time.
