RE: Can anyone make me a cold air-intake? Or tell me where i can get one?
After an awful lot of research, I've come to the sad conclusion that K&N doesn't improve anything except the speed dollars move through my wallet.
Increasing airflow and reducing resistance only helps if the engine can use more air, add more fuel, and exit the air it is pulling in faster -- out faster.
Read a long thread on the subject in a technical forum. The net is that unless you can re-calibrate the injectors, change the intake runners, add headers, etc -- it's all a waste.
A small problem is that K&N tends to let larger particles (higher micron) through than a stock paper, so your oil can get dirtier faster.
All the tests saying K&N's are doleing out great gobs of power were written by K&N. I've never seen a technical white paper by an independent source saying they can make a difference.
Anyone have any good (different)data on this?
