RE: For Sale 1999 C230 Kompressor

Sounds like a nice unit, but that's an impressively strong price.

I show it should be more like $11,500 to $13,500 in primo condition with new tires, the premium wheels, new brakes, seats that look hovered in, no scratches, parking lot pings, complete service file, etc.

That asking price actually would be just a few dollars low for a C43.

That would be California prices - no winter, no sand/salt/chemicals, garaged, etc.

Then again, lots of nice ad's in every local paper, plus AutoTrader, Cars.com, ebay, etc.

Maybe you can get a nibble.

Good luck.

Well it is worth $15,300. I just did new brakes and full service and i have over $2,000 in rims and tires. So I am losing in the deal.

RE: For Sale 1999 C230 Kompressor

Great. I truly hope you can pull it off.

We will all be taking notes.

My experience has shown brakes are maintenance and add $0 to the value -- though poor brakes can detract.

I have found nice wheels and tires can help a car move faster to the right buyer, but they too -- like nice stereos and wood treatments add $0 to the value. Your Pilots have 6000 miles on them. That's 20% to 30% of their life -- so not much of an adder there.

I'm sorry your losing money, but that is what happens to all of us on automobiles. They are an expense -- not an investment[:(!] The only possible exception are those vehicles with uniqueness and rareity ( and that isn't yours or mine [xx(] )

Now if you had a Gullwing, or mid-60's SEL600.....

Good luck....

OK, I'm curious. Are you getting nibbles?

What offers are you getting? Not trying to embarass anyone, just trying to figure out how accurate the market is these days.

RE: For Sale 1999 C230 Kompressor

I was trying to ask if anyone is offering you something for the car - however unpopular the number might be with you -- and below your willingness to accept. Or maybe even way over that number leading to intense excitement.

I have a committed relationship with my 2000 E320 which I picked up a year ago for around $3000 more than that -- so I probably wouldn't be a good candidate for you.

My opinion, from the California market, is that similar units in showroom condition, no dings, new brakes and tires, seats look hovered in - a pristine unit should go for the $11.5K to $13.5K range

There was a poster looking to do an engine transplant in his C220 to get (somehow) more power. He needs your car.
