Euro Delivery for Mercedes Sprinter Van?

I would like a Sprinter rigged out for Mobility (wheelchair passengers.)
Here in the USA a Sprinter from Dodge or Freightliner must be converted, but in Europe the Sprinter is available wheelchair ready from Mercedes, complete with lift and wheelchair tiedowns. AND it has the Mercedes logo on it.
Does anyone know if I can take delivery in Germany of a Mercedes Sprinter van and export it to the USA after I have toured a bit of Europe? The MBUSA EuroDelivery program seems to cover only cars.

RE: Euro Delivery for Mercedes Sprinter Van?

Hi Driverdave.

Yes, you can buy a Sprinter in Germany and export it later to USA. But you'll have to put a lot of labour and planning to make it successful.

First of all, contact your local registration authorities and ask what kind of documentation they need to be able to get plates. Get it in writing if possible. It may be smart to ask a local dealer for assistance. It could pay off when servicing later on.

English will not get you far in Germany. If you try just calling the different parties on the phone asking for a Sprinter, you'll be very lucky if you have any success. Get an agent. There are plenty of them, and they speak english.

The most important thing to remember, is to take real good care of the "Farzeugbrief". The one who possesses that owns the vehicle.

Cars meant to be exported on their own wheels have to have "Ausfuhr-Kennzeichen (Internationale Zulassung)". They are valid in all European countrys.

But hey, the todo list is way to long for a post. PM me with some more details, and I might be able to help with a great agent, and some advice.

Regards

Geir
