S Class Key Seat Memory...Can't find Enable Menu

hi i looked under all the menus for the enable smartkey seat memory selection and it is nowhere to be found. the smartkeys are not remembering the differential seat settings. anybody know the trick or is this another oversight in initial quality by mb? (just took delivery of 2006 S500).

RE: S Class Key Seat Memory...Can't find Enable Menu

i've got a 2006 s500 as well and can't figure out both key-dependency (like you) and the reverse tilt down mirror on the passenger side. can't find either one of the options in the menus. i'll ask the dealer to show me when i go in for my first check betweeen 1,000 and 3,000 miles. until then, any help anyone?

I thought the Key Seat Memory was an option that was DELETED from all MB's. In fact, I remember reading a quote by an MB exec using this feature as an example of unnecessary options.

Hope this helps.

just got back from dealer: fixed

smartkey dependent seat memories was disabled in mid-2004...but, your dealer can easily upload the firmware for you. they did it on mine and only took like 5 min. but the feature isn't that great since it's not like the seat moves to memory position upon unlocking with said smartkey (like it does on a porsche)...it's just the settings are stored in the banks separately per key. they also have to download the passenger parking mirror auto-down firmware if you want that. takes no time at all.

Yes that feature was deleted from the cars. It is a great feature if you are the only driver of that particular car, but imagine if you took the wrong set of keys, which had been programmed for another driver!!! That would be SO annoying to have to constantly readjust the seat, radio, and climate control settings every time you stuck the key in the ignition
