Exporting out of the United States

I am actually a salesman at a Mercedes store in Florida. I have been told that someone can not buy a new Mercedes for export out of the United States. I can not find anything anywhere to back this up. Some say you can not export the 2006 ML's and others are saying you can not export any new Mercedes, just pre-owned. Does anyone have any facts to back this up or prove it wrong?

RE: Exporting out of the United States

I bought my wife a new e320 cdi about three weeks ago. I had to sign a document promising not to export the vehicle for a period of one year. It did not make much sense to me.

RE: Exporting out of the United States

ditto. i bought a new 2006 s-class in april and had to sign the same document. apparently (which makes zero sense to me), benzo usa (corporate) can go after the local benzo dealer if they sell a car to someone, who then subsequently (re)sells it outside the usa. this document i signed allows my dealer to seek damages against me if benzo usa goes after the dealer. i'm not sure what business it is of benzo usa as to what i do with my car after they have my $100,000 so i doubt it is enforceable ,,, but i have zero intentions of exporting it ,,, so i signed it. weird, yeah?

RE: Exporting out of the United States

I understand the euro/dollar situation. I understand that many are buying vintage MB from the US now at bargain prices.

What is the European advantage to buying newer MB from the US?

(I am in a Bucharest hotel as I type and would consider selling my ML over here if I could get more than the US market and cover the hassle!! It's time to go small again.)

1974 280 (gone)
1982 380SL (schwarzekatz)
1984 300TDT (why did I get rid of the best one?)
1992 300E (gone and forgotten)
1993 190E (daughter drives)
1994 E320 Wagon (gone and forgotten)
2002 ML320 (thank goodness for extended warranty)
