I assume ‘naf’ is bad.

If the clutch is not engaging, replace it.

Check also the aux fan, coolant level, water pump, and t stat. A cooling system flush and refill may be needed. Post in the 126 forum.

RE: viscous fan on sel

does the fan turn on before/during it overheats?
if not, check the cooling fan sensor. Replace if fan runs all the time also.

check proper coolant to water ratio was correct.

is the car idling too fast? check your rpm/timing also... this messes with it too.

It's not all that, But it's mine.

In the future, you probably will get more responses if you post in the forum specific for your model i.e. the w126 forum.

"I assume ‘naf’ is bad".

naff= bad, drab (from Not Available For Fucking).Part of the 'Polari' slang adopted and developed by the London gay community of the 50s and 60s.

Thanks DR for the definition, I’ve been wondering about that for more than six months now…

Yes,in fact I only happened upon the origin recently.I was quite surprised actually, for some reason I always assumed it was an old army expression.
Incidently, think twice before you call someone a 'berk'!

I don’t think it matters in a thread this old where the author is more than likely no longer with us.
