How can I get more bass out of my S500 Bose system?

I own a 2000 S500 with the factory Bose system. It sounds good but needs more thump. Has anyone upgraded the subwoofer inside the trunk? Thanks for the help.

I have the same question. When I first bought my 2000 S500, I thought that there was a problem with the bass. The dealer told me that's it. I love the car but it does lack the bass from my previous Benz (1993 400 SEL).

RE: How can I get more bass out of my S500 Bose system?

I assume you both have gone into the settings and cranked up the base to 10 (MAX). Given that, I am afraid that you are stuck w/ your own tastes in music. I have mine up to about 7, and find the sound to be quite acceptable--indeed I love the "realistic" sound produced by the Bose Beta 2 sound system. It is funny: I hate Bose home systems because of their whimpy sound. But in an enclosed space like the car, I find their accoustics nearly perfect.

Maybe you guys can find a 28" sub/speaker and mount it in your back seat--in place of passangers--and hang on to your seats. =)

BTW: there are several long threads on this very subject. You might want to search all forums for Bose.
