Extended Warranty Policies

I am shopping for an extended warranty for my '02 E55. Does anyone have experience with American Mercury Insurance Co. they are offered by my credit union. I can purchase their platinum policy with 5 yr, 100K mi, $0 deductable for $2800. My service advisor had no experience with this company.

RE: Extended Warranty Policies

Your local MB dealership should be able to sell you an extended warrenty for your car. I bought my C320 from a private party, brought it to my local MB dealership and got a 5 year/ 100K mile warrenty. If I get the work done there it is a $0 deductable, else it is $100. He wanted $2950 and I got him down to $2120.

If you buy an extended warrenty elsewhere, your dealership might not honor it or you might have to pay the whole bill, then get reimbursted for it later.

RE: Extended Warranty Policies

Read the fine print with Aftermarket extended warranties. A friend of mine purchased one of the aftermarket warranties on his former low mileage company car. Seems if used parts are available for major repairs-ie transmissions, engines-that's what's used for replacement. He ended up getting a salvage yard transmission replacement for his defective unit. Do you want to replace a defective part with a used part with unknown miles? Seems like the MB extended warranty would be a better deal.
