Cool Sorry new here

Just purchased ml320 2001 and this forum has been tremendous in helping me troubleshoot things...have ? re this balancer issue, car was bought from other than MB dealer, though reputable in San Antonio, how would I go about making sure this issue does not involve my model....and how would MB send letter if I am second owner. Any advise would be great. thanks:

Hi, Pam.

Welcome to the forum. For this recall it doesn't matter if you're the original owner or not, if it has the suspect part MB will replace it.

If you go back to the initial post in this thread you'll find all of the details necessary to determine for yourself if your ML is affected by this issue. Alternatively you can just take it into the dealer and they'll check it for you, it's based on model, year, chassis number and the actual part no. of the HB (it was only one supplier they had problems with).

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Weeks and hours of nonstop followup is a lot.
MB should have just fixed it immediately. But good one.
I am glad for the happy ending.

What is the problem with them? Do they vibrate? or come apart? or?

They come apart suddenly, throwing shrapnel through the engine, pan and other things under the hood...

Your car is not going to have an HB problem! And there is no vibration involved w/ it, even if it did. My guess is that you need to have your wheels balanced.

It is actually not good to know because it is not accurate. No idea where the source is to support the other info...but vibration is a very common symptom when an HB is on the way out. Go back and read the FIRST post in this thread; while your car is not within the model years potentially included then you can still check the part number on your HB against the ones noted with the problem. If the PN is not one of the listed ones, you could still have am issue. So scroll down the forum and come join up in the 210 forum and we will get you squared away.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg
