Switching from Ford SVT to Mercedes AMG?
I'm currently on the fence as to whether I should sell my 2002 Ford Lightning and daily driver (Honda CRV) and purchase a Mercedes or not. I'm about to graduate college and will most likely be in a suit 40+ hrs a week. I'm be in the accounting/financial sector. I want something I can climb out of in a suit and not look silly. I want something I can valet at a nice hotel or restuarant and not look odd. And most of all, I want something I can put 100k miles on easily and not be worried about recalls, repairs, reliability issues, etc.
My dad has been driving MB's since his 1981 240D. He swears by them. However, are the AMG-variety MB's as reliable? I'm currently sifting through the classifieds and have spotted a couple of C32's that look interesting. I still want something that turns heads and has a bit of power to it (my truck has hit 400+ rwhp/500+ lbs. of torque and can run mid 12's on Nittos all day).
I'm slated to graduate next May (2006). I'll be in the market then or very close to then, pretty much whenever I accept an offer and know where I'll be and whether I even *need* a car. But until then, I figure I'd hang around some MB forums and absorb some info. I did the same thing with my Lightning; I was on the boards planning my mods, vendors, tuners, etc. months before going to the dealership with checkbook in hand.
