HELP!! In Dash CD Player Resets CD, Rather Than Resumes from Last Point

Please help!! I have a 2003 E320 with an in dash CD player, no navigation. Lately, the CD player has been resetting the CD back to the beginning of the CD, regardless of where it was prior to turning the car off.

I took it into the dealer and they replaced the CD player, but the problem continues. The other issue is that it doesn't happen all of the time. As luck would have it, it works fine when I took it back into the dealer, but stopped working fine after I picked it up.

I'm assuming this isn't normal. Any advice would be much appreciated.

RE: HELP!! In Dash CD Player Resets CD, Rather Than Resumes from Last Point

Sounds like you have a bad connection on the lead that supplys power to the memory of your head unit.
Most head units have two leads suppling power to the head unit, one is for the main power, the other is for the memory, radio station presets, current track on cd, etc.
In europe the wires are mostly coloured:-

Red=main power

My advice would be to check the manufacturers wiring diagram for the approprate colour, remove the head unit, and check the lead. It should have a continous +12 volts current even when the keys are out of the ignition, but in your case(because it sounds like you have an intermittant short), I would remove the old wire and replace with new, then wire it directly to your cars battery.
