The 210 seats are great for a couple of hours; after that the 124 seats were better. I do get 27-31 mpg on the hwy, sure couldn't pull that off in the 124. 100k plug change will be a bear to do, but sure beats the 15k frequency of my old 124.

'87 300E: sold after 11years @ 230k & still on the road somewhere in rural Tennessee.

'94 C220 with 93k totalled 10/06 by hit & run broadsiding monster truck: not a scratch or bruise for me

W123 300D ...TANK...of Benz's finest achievements! (beside the SLR or 500E [my fav's!]) Performs like a race car. Is it a coincidence that almost every taxi in Europe (and most other countries) was and probably still is a 123? I don't think so. Fuel efficiency comparable to today's standards...born in 1975! "Million-Mile cars". The W123 is the most popular sedan in the world. Over 2.5 million sold world-wide...sounds like McDonalds...YUK!

Choice? ...easy as 123 (LOL)

Dont get me wrong...I love my 124 2.5 turbo. I just prefer the lines of the 124. I expect to hord a few 123's in the near future though. So lock up your daughters!

You are at least a decade behind. It is W210 now. Can't blame them, even the W123 can last forever, the W210 is burning like 1/2 of the fuel, while providing way much better performance.

Even a few years from here. A W210 is rare now, W/S211 is the standard one, a few other models (W221, W/S203) but of course one in a million (perhaps less) could be a W123.

In Germany, of course, taxi's are the latest E-Class (normally) ...yes that means 211...excuse my excitement about the 123 ...I guess what I meant to say is the outcome of it's popularity/reliability lead to it's majority in numbers on the road world wide

I'm trying to think of any another model (any automobile brand) that has had that kind of influence on history...any ideas?

I should probably start a new thread on that one

I see a trend that MB Sprinter might be in vans/commercial chassis category what W123 was in passenger cars.
Remember the older VW Bus?

The sprinter is a god-send...those puppies (dodge or benz) are rocket ships. They are cheap, super fuel efficient and you can carry another fricken car inside of them.

Good call...Check out the upgrades for a dodge! Mercedes Sprinter Grille

VW Vanagon (spelling?) another staple...The hippie-cadillac!

Rabbit/Golf? ...had a friend with an 81 rabbit diesel I think that thing had 400K on it and started up first crank every day in the dead of winter...it once was yellow but had since been painted black via the soot bombs!
