Folding down seats in E200 Estate

Sounds a silly question, but I've just bought a 1991 E200 Estate without an owners manual. Can anyone tell me how you fold the rear seats down - I can't find a catch that will do it. The most likely looking thing is a push-button set behind the rear door catch, but this doesn't appear to work.

Any help would be much appreciated.

RE: Folding down seats in E200 Estate

Hi Ken,

On my E220 estate the procedure is as follows:-

1) Remove rear headrests ( pull up then press black button to release )

2) Lift rear bolster ( theres a white arrow that indicates where to put your hand on each side.) There is no separate locking mechanism. (I spent ages looking for it !)

3) Rear seat squab now folds forward

To remove the bolster completely for more space there is a red handle on each side which lifts up to release the locking mechanism. This allows you to lift out the two squabs completely if needed

If you have the dog guard fitted, that slides to the side to release it from the seat back, leaving a completely flat load area.

Hope these instructions make sense
