XENON COMPATIBLE BULB REPLACEMENTS

I recently came across a link from another site wherein one had done his homework about changing out non-xenon bulbs to match his xenons. It was very imformative. That link is :

http://forums.*.org/forums/showthread.php?t=93948

I then contacted Andreas at Hoen and was pleasantly surprised at the prompt response and high level of support and honesty in this matter.

You can reach Andreas at info@hoen-usa.com. The web site is http://www.hoen-usa.com.

Read the link and then contact Andreas with your model.

I was pleasantly surprised and now awaiting arrival of these new "white" lamps.

More to come.

RE: XENON COMPATIBLE BULB REPLACEMENTS

The followup to the original posting is that the bulbs are in and they are absolutely fantastic.

They are clean, white, a natural match for the xenon, and the high beams throw an incrediblly clean light much greater in distance than the originals.

If you want clean lighting, contact Andreas at Hoen.

You will be very glad you did!

RE: XENON COMPATIBLE BULB REPLACEMENTS

I emailed Andreas at Hoen, as I want my city lights to match since those are always on. He says they carry them but only sell them when they install them. Do you know why? I can't exactly drive to california to have a light bulb put into my car!

RE: XENON COMPATIBLE BULB REPLACEMENTS

I believe that is the Hoen H6W bulb your vehicle uses.

I think that is a very high output bulb, and for liability purposes they want to ensure that there is no fire potential.

I would think that they could find you a qualified installer in your area that could do it.

E-mail Andreas and ask as to the possibilities.

I can attest to the value of these bulbs. I was quite skeptical at first, but I am now a believer!

Are these just regular halogen bulbs with blue tints on them?

RE: XENON COMPATIBLE BULB REPLACEMENTS

Castorpimp I believe Hoen did respond to your issue.

No, these are a very high grade, high intensity halogen lamps color-toned to a similar wavelength as that of xenon.

As a result, the match is nearly dead on, and they are fabulous.

They get rid of the dull orangy light tone.

According to the mbworld link, the original mod used the following for citi lights:
City Lights:PIAA Mini-wedge bulbs "Platinum Super White" Size: 19169 (currently $13.00)

RE: XENON COMPATIBLE BULB REPLACEMENTS

Buycheap, that is true that the city light reference was originally stated in that posting as PIAA.

However, after seeing the very high quality of the Hoen and the fantastic customer support from both Andreas and Gary, I have decided to stay with Hoen.

I had great difficulty trying to purchase the PIAA bulbs, and the customer support was not very good.

So, I decided that Hoen was the better deal, and I am glad I did so.

Check with Hoen for correct bulbs for your vehicle, and I am quite certain you will be as pleased as I am.

RE: XENON COMPATIBLE BULB REPLACEMENTS

I second the quality of these bulbs! The bulbs in question (h6w) citylight bulb matches my xenon lights very well. I had a small issue w/ the bulb throwing out a malfunction on my computer screen as "bulb out" or "headlamp malfunction". I took out the plug, re-inserted and it was fine since. Pricey at $35 shipped for a couple tiny bulbs but the difference and improved looks were well worth the small price.

RE: XENON COMPATIBLE BULB REPLACEMENTS

The H6W bulb is a strange one and I have noticed it will give out error messages if not properly seated.

Removing, reinstalling, and making sure you have fully twisted it into the lamp housing socket seems to correct the problem.

I was informed that Hoen is temporarily out of the xenonmatch H6W until the 3rd week of May.

It is worth the wait.
