Mercedes versus BMW

Hi! I'm new here.... but this topic is the reason I registered to this site. Mercedes is, in my opinion, the best car brand in the world and I can't even compare it with BMW [:0] i just want you to express your opinion about this. [:D][:D]

in the 90's... mercedes kicked bmw's booty. but in this decade... i think i might choose a bmw over a mercedes even though i am a mercedes fan...

RE: Mercedes versus BMW

I agree that mercedes is one of the best and most recognizable cars on the road, but with the recent press that has been going around about the quality of the vechicles, my opinion about the brand is starting the shift a bit. I currently own a 2001 E320 and the quality of this car compared to my 1984 300SD is considerably lower. My 300SD had virtually no mechanical or cosmetic issues until the car reached about six years. With my E320, I feel as if there is always something wrong with it. If I was in the market for a new car right now, I might think twice about getting another Benz and possibly consider a BMW.

I own a '93 600SEL and I am proud to say that this car works better than any BMW on the road. I drove a 2004 C320 recently and a Bmw 328i. C Class is much better. I think we should do something about the thing that BMW overtook MB ! [xx(][xx(][}:)]

Drive better? In what sense? Could you be more precise?

Comparing an old BMW to a recent MB is hardly a fair comparison. Also, a BMW 330 is the counterpart to a 320 engine.

As far as BMW taking over from MB. Unfortunately, MB is the author of its own problems with its reduced quality. BMW is merely the beneficiary of the MB gaffe.

RE: Mercedes versus BMW

Owning both, I have to say that each have there positives and negitives.

The BMW has crisper handling over the MB, but the MB has a more comfortable ride.

I did add a Tornado Fuel Saver in the BMW and I cannot beleive the pick-up the car has now. With that said, the BMW is quicker off the line, but after a second or two, the MB will over take it.

I would rather take the MB on a road trip over the BMW. On the highway the MB screams, and it is a solid ride when you are cruising at 85+mph. On the other hand, if you am going up to the mountains, you'll have a lot of fum in the Beemer.

The seats in the MB are firmer, my wife like the BMW seats because they have more padding.

The MB has a heavier feel to it, while the BMW has a lighter feel. If anyone has ever compared a Camaro with a Mustang you'll know what I mean.

After washing and waxing both, the MB has better a finish and luster than the BMW.

Both are equally dependable. And cost about the same to maintain them.

The sound system is far superior in the MB.

Overall, I think the MB is a better car. The BMW comes close and I would rather it over a Japanese car, but the MB is still king.
