Class C 2002 - Starting problems!!!!

Hi!!

I have a W203 Class C 220 CDi and today the car refused to start, I turned the key but the car doesn't start.

The problem is that I've been havind this same problem but if I try some more times the car started just fine.

Also when I insert the key all runs normal lights, radio, and ignition lights, etc and no error code appear in the computer.

I've called the MB assistance and they say that I need to switch the starter (about 746 € ), what you think about it...

Thanks for the help!!

I am afraid that we will need a little more information to help you with your problem. When you say "it doesn't start" does it turn over, making a clicking noise, or no sounds at all?? Glow plug relay or bad glow plug would be my first guess. And 746 for a starter, you have got to be kidding me. Try some online parts suppliers. I am not sure what country you are in, but I am sure you could find some with parts WAY cheaper than that. A remanufactured starter for your car should not be more than $350, I would think.

I had a similar problem with my old C 200 K, it was the auto switch inhibiter.
This stops you starting the car in Drive say. The switch was changed under warranty and the problem went away. It did take a long time to find through .
