Owners Manual and Starting 300TD in cold weather

I acquired a 1985 300 Turbo Diesel that runs great. But, I need to know how to start it in cold weather (below 32 degrees); and, I need an owners manual or shop manual.

No problem, turn key wait untill light goes out and start. If it really gets cold there is a engine heater installed that can be plugged in, the cord should be in the grill area. 32 should never be a problem, I used to go up to upper Wisconsin, leaving it out and never had a problem or ever plugged in.

Also, the following need to be in good condition:

Battery
Starter
Glow Plugs/Relay
Compression

Call MBUSA, 800-FOR-MERC. They can supply all the manuals you need.

I would just change the above order starting with Compression.
Had a Diesel VW Golf I with same problem but in Africa Celsius effect is seldom felt.

Needless to say poor compression would be worse case…

I agree, when it is a case of advice for someone technicaly educated.
Did not get the feeling of same from the poster of this topic. Just wanted to give the order of the culprits as per significance...
