RE: need help buying merc

I've got 2 1998 W210's (E's) one is an early model and one is a late 1998. There are alot of slight cosmetic changes for late 1998 such as alloy design, LED brake light, 1 piece headlining, etc... but there are on MAJOR differences till the facelift in the end of 1999.

Personally I prefer the harder look of the 1995-1998 E's over the slightly softer late model ones, but that is personal prefferance.

As far as the engines go,.. stick with a 6 (V6 in W210 from 1998, inline before that). The M104 engine is one of the last great 6's by mercedes but it is prone to head gasket failure, and the M112 is very smooth but has a badly designed harmonic balancer. As you can see chosing will not be easy, but I'd advise you to go for ANY 6 cyl W210 (E-class) just make sure that the car hass full service history, low mileage and no rust on the wings or under the doors.

Feel free to checkout my galleries for a closer look into the W210's.
