2005 E55 Fuel Problems

I am the leasing manager for the largest auto leasing company in the US and I recently ran into a problem with a 2005 E55 that I have never seen before. This is a 1800 mile car that MB says needs a new fuel tank, fuel sending unit, fuel filter, fuel rails, and new injectors. All told about $5K in repairs that they are refusing to warranty. I bought the car from Bavarian Trade Inc in Lynchburg VA from Steven Applestein. The car was picked up by my transportation company and delivered to Bermingham AL. Upon arriving in Bermingham the car wouldn't start. It was then towed to Crown Mercedes and that it where the diagnostics were run. So far Mercedes has been able to tell me that there is 3.5% water in the fuel, but I have a hard time swallowing that just water will erode the inside of a plastic tank to the point that it has to be replaced. Mercedes corporate refuses to help and Bavarian trade is taking no responsibility. If ANYONE has seen a similar scenario please call me asap at 866-532-7337 ext 249 or 214-529-3795.

For the record I would highly recommend that you avoid buying ANY cars from both Crown motots as well as Bavarian Trade Inc.

Friend's girlfriend had somewhat similar issue with Chrysler PT Cruiser - water in gas. Citgo picked up tab for repairs.

I had the same problem with my boat. Again, Citgo paid the tab.

RE: 2005 E55 Fuel Problems

My father used to own a Chevron gas station in EL Paso, TX. He always told me to buy gas from a name brand, because they change the tanks more regularly than the cheap gas stations. The tanks underground tend to get water in them. I know EPA has regulations to replace the tanks, but the name brand gas companies will require their franchises to replace the tanks when there is water in them. Right around the corner from me, an EXXON franchise owner lost his franchise, because he would not replace his tanks. Now the gas station is a MALCO gas station.

I avoid Citgo and other cheap gas stations like Black Death. I was surprised that Citgo paid for the damages. By buying gas from a cheap gas station, you are playing water roulette.
