RE: engine cleaning.
Run your engine for a few minutes to get it warm, then turn off your car.
Wait until the engine is warm, but you can manage to touch it with your hands without burning.
Cover sensitive electrical pieces and air vents with plstic bags and secure them with rubber bands.
The spary with a non-petroleum based grease cleaner like P21S Total Autowash. Let it rest for 3 - 5 minutes, then scrub with a sponge and rinse with a hose (middle jet).
Repeat if necessary until you're satisfied with the results.
remove the plastic bags and rubber bands. Turn on your engine again and let it run for 5-10 minutes to help evaporate wahtever residual water there might be. You're done.
I do this at least once a month, it keeps it looking like new.
It makes my car and me look better, and I'm sure my mechanic will appreciate working on a clean environment when a service is due. This will get my car, hopefully, some special attention.
