RE: engine cleaning.

Hi hoopsmix,

"I think it can be done...
It would requiere a few more chemicals and a longer time, but it is doable..." hoopsmx

Would that be to clean the engine bay or to 'sweeten' the deal that MRTIKKET is offering?

RE: engine cleaning.

Older Benzes have less electrical problems to cover up and avoid, hence making it all easier. It would also be more helpful to know what type of car you have, as diesel engines like mine are easy to clean since there aren't alot of electrical stuff like spark plugs with their vulnerable rubber covers that water can seep into.

Like others said, it only takes a few minutes. But for me I hose it down, I used to start with pressurized washers for the first few times. Then when it's relatively clean already I just use the lower-strength washers and use Simple Green to remove all greasy stuff. Wash away, but soak up all remaining water first before letting it dry. It would also be best to wax any shiny metallic surfaces you find.

Also it would be nice to really scrub and brush the first time as the really sticky stuff is there. It does not take just one go at it to get the cleanest results. Take a few hours of each week and keep cleaning until you're satisfied. I posted pics of my engine before and after cleaning, here are the results:

First day I got her:

First time to clean engine without Simple Green (lots of scrubbing & brushing):

After many engine cleaning days w/Simple Green:

Same pic as above but different angle:

RE: engine cleaning.

dont use pressure washers, i had a bmw and used a pressure washer. everything went wrong from then. the idle was very irratic, black smoke out the tailpipe, stalling, etc.

I detailed my engine yesterday and this is how it looks after the procedure above described.

I would hope your engine bay was clean – your car is like two minutes old…[:0][:p]

It's almos new agreed. I got it last September and it has only 3,200 miles. I started detailing the engine from the get go, I don't want to allow it to get soiled.

in addition i'll add that i use armor all on all of the plastic and rubber parts. they will look like new and when people want to look at the v12...well you should see the look on their faces when i pop the hood. it's always a very pleasurable moment for me. [8D]
