RE: Rolls-Royce

I have a Hooper bodied 1933 RR. Never gives me trouble, since I drive it less than 100 miles per year. For sale if anybody is interested. Museum quality. Owned it for about 15 years.

...have you driven one these cars before ?
No, never driven one. What was interesting about the Bentleys before 1931 was that the bodies were assembled by different makers the mechanicals alone were made by Bentley; often a given car would be literally one of a kind.

RE: Rolls-Royce

I for one would rather have a 3-pointed stat over anything with "the spirit of ecstacy" on the hood. However some of the newer (VW/bentley/RR etc)stuff is quite nice, except for the bentley Continental GT - It's more like something out of a Ford dealership (Should be sold as the new Lincon Continental GT[:D]).

Nothing screams out new money more in Central London than a Bentley GT or ANY (8cyl) Ferrari.

If you want my advice, try finding something more collectable/rewarding/exclusive/reliable for the amount you are spending.

RE: Rolls-Royce

Definitely be very careful and research the heck out of the car. Most specifically, the QUALITY of those cars at that time. A former colleague of mine used to work for Rolls Royce Manufacturing. I can not remember the time frame, however, I do remember him telling me how many problems they had with those cars. You thought some of the MB problems were inexcuseable, these stories were ridiculous.

It sounds like you'd be bending over backward to get the car. I'd probably just stick with the Benz. Now, if you had $24K burning your pocket and it was not a big deal, hell I'd buy it for fun. It's just not going to be wise investment down the road.

Good luck. [8D]
