RE: Silly question: Leather or MB-tex?
With leather, in a vehicle that old, there almost has to be a wear mark on the left side bolster of the driver seat. With tex, look for a little cracking on the piping around the headrest. Tex has tiny diamond shaped "perforations" in the ribbed part of the material. If you have it, the build card will tell you the material. If you don't have the build card, get it from MBUSA.
If still in doubt, suck up your ego, and go to the MB service department and ask. There is no way that is as stupid a question as a few I have asked (not to say you won't be ridiculed mercilessly [:)])
By the way, an old tip from my 300D days; Running a quart of Dextron III in the fuel once a month is a great lube for the injection pump (or whatever they call it). It's a whole lot cheaper than redline oil, and very important to keeping the seals from cracking.
