I thought a CL had to be toe on a flat bed?

Why did they have to turn the car around before towing it? Could they just tow it from the position of first picture [?] Using the front wheels/tires as pivots could damage the car.
Any vehicle with an automatic transmission should not be towed with the drive wheels on the ground spinning with the engine off. This can/will fry the trans. That is why when you see a vehicle on a hook, it is usually being towed from the rear end because the rear wheels are the drive wheels.

Some vehicles, like the Jeep Grand Cherokee, can be towed with the drive wheels on the ground because you can put the transfer case in neutral, thereby stopping the drive shaft and transmission from spinning.
I know. What I wonder was why they didn't move the tow truck to the other end from the first picture to tow the car (from the rear) instead of moving the car 180-degree. The street wasn't that crowded! It is easier to move the tow truck around than doing all those works
