1987 560SL Alarm Problems... Help please

Our car has been in and out of the dealers for a month due to the alarm going off without provocation.

At first the dealer said that the wiring in that era was substandard and replaced wires to the tune of $1400.00.

When that didn't cure the problem they replaced the hood and trunk sensors.

Then the alarm control module.

Next the door locks.(Covered under warranty)

Has anyone had similar problems?
If wiring was substandard and deteriorating why no recall?
Why was part of the alarm system covered under warranty and not other components?

The alarm has not gone off in the last 24 hrs so maybe our neighbors can get some rest.
