RE: Electric Windows

May be a long shot, but have you checked the wires in the doors?

Hello, I have the same problem - it just started with my left window. I have a 1990 SL500 and my top wont go down unless both windows are lowered. Any ideas?

Hi Sleepwalker,
I have the same problem with my CL600. You said "power supply interruption" ...sound right. How do we test or fix it?
Thanks.

Fuses

Hi - I'm getting this problem too. The window and mirror on each of the front doors stop working after a couple of weeks - sometimes one door - sometimes both. To re-set the driver's door (right hand door here in the UK) I have to pull
out and then replace fuse #16 in the fuse box under the bonnet (hood). When I do this I hear a click as if a replay somewhere has been reset.
For the passenger front door (left hand side) I have to pull and replace fuse #1
under the back seat.
Also the front domelight fails to work when a front door is opened about every 3 months - so then I have to pull and replace fuse #4 under the back seat.
A voltmeter shows there is voltage on both sides of the fuses before I pull them.

This is on a 1997 w210 230E.

That is often caused by rain getting into the doors when rubber seals start to fail as they get older, and shorting out the electrical and mechanical parts...

Don't believe everything you think

Rubber seals

Thanks very much for that suggestion, Jayhawk.
In London the car tends to be put away in the garage - but when away for the weekend and it is left out in the rain for a few days, then the problem does seem to happen more often.
