1990 mb 560 sel radiator question

i own a 1990 mb 560 sel which i bought new from the dealer here in vancouuver b.c.canada. it's been a superb car in most respects. it currently has 199 000 km on it. my question regards a problem with its radiator. there is a small 3/4 inch hose (back flow hose)which runs from the coolant reservoir to the radiator. there is a plastic nipple to which the hose connects to the rad. the nipple on my radiator has broken. is there a way to glue the hose in place, or do i have to replace the whole radiator? thank you for your advice in this matter.

RE: 1990 mb 560 sel radiator question

Hi amazingnoght,

Replace the radiator.
A Behr unit will work well.

The radiator is a critical part of your car, it fails----- engine done, etc.

RE: 1990 mb 560 sel radiator question

Get a new radiator because if the inlet neck breaks, your engine can be damaged. Get all new hoses as well, fix the monovalve too. Newer radiators have a small metal tube for reinforcement in the upper neck. The hot coolant makes the plastic brittle over time.

Not part of the in-crowd since 1952. It's BRAKES not breaks. You break a bone, use brakes to stop your car. /rant
