RE: audio rumors

The fiber optic is the connection to the CD changer. So, if you want to continue to use the CD changer, you'll have to make the appropriate connections. However, with the advent of MP3 capable headunits . . . why would you want to? Fiber optic cable is also used to illuminate switches on the dash.

RE: audio rumors

mti is right, there is a connection to the cd changer via fiber optic cables, however some models, it also connects to the amplifier. no light, no sound, no matter which head unit. im not sure if your 140 chassis is set up this way, i cant remember off the top of my head. ask one of these geniuses with WIS on their computers. they should be able to find it. as for the switches, some older cars used them, not alot of mb models though. i cant think of any currently that do. there is some old buick though, (late 50's if i remember right) which ran the entire dash off of 1 bulb, and fiber optics. when that bulb burned out, so did everything else.
