Low oil pressure at idle? Is this a comon problem?

this car is like new but does not have what I call good oil pressure at idle after it warms up. Is there a high volume oil pump replacement?

what kind of car do you have? how many miles on it? did you check your owners manual for proper gauge readings? also, a high flow pump would not be the same as a high pressure pump.

So a high volume pump doesn't cause higher pressures?

no, high volume is high qauntity. high pressure isnt necessarily high volume. in this case, you wouldnt need an "upgraded" pump if your pressure is low. chances are your old pump is just worn out. judging by your other posts though, and that your car only has 17k miles, i would say that it is either low on oil (which i doubt) or its normal. remember, your oil pressure will fluctuate with engine speed.

RE: Low oil pressure at idle? Is this a comon problem?

I got the same question too. My 230E/560SEL/S500 all have the oil pressure at 2 bar when idle...
However, my E420 has less than 1 bar when the engine is hot. I have brought the car to the dealer and the service manager said it is normal, he step on the gas and said coz the needle will point to 3bars so the it is normal, as long as the car has at least 0.3bar they said it is normal for mercedes

not sure if it is true or not

Yes, over 0.3 is OK at idle.
