46 mo free service

I am looking to understand something. This is my fifth MB at this dealer. Yesterday I called to setup a delivery time and the salesman (whom I know) said "BTW, one of the reasons the price is so good is we registered the car in August with MB so there is only 46 months on the service and warranty."

What is this? The car has 22 miles on it and is clearly new and I have known this MB dealer for 25 years. Owners have changed about 8 years ago.

I can't figure out if this was for a quota or a rebate or what.[:0]

RE: 46 mo free service

No matter how many miles the car gets, if it's registered, the clock will tick. Dealers never register their cars unless they are sold. Your case seems like you are the second owner. I know it's only 22 miles but there must be a reason the first owner backed out (accident, unsufficent fund ...). I would check with car fax to see if it has any problems.

i wouldnt trust carfax to find the reason for this.
your a valued customer. youve bought 5 mercedes from this place, so your no stranger here. simply ask your salesman why the vehicle was registered in august. other than previous owner, i cant think of any reason that the dealership would do that. bottom line, if your car was pre-owned, and it was sold to you as new, i would think that there would be no problem with the dealership covering your last two months warranty. that could keep them out of some legal trouble... like fraud charges. not something that a mb dealer needs
