SLK230 starts and runs fine for 5-10mins then it cuts off and will not restart - plz read more below

Here's what I got... If the car is cold and I start it - it starts fine but after 5-10 mins of idle or driving it cuts off and will not start - when I go to turn the key all I get is no starter sound just dash lights and the radiator fan. Two feedbacks from last night mentioned I should change the battery. I did that and it still wouldn't start. The old MB battery holds power and puts out 14 and the alternator puts the power back at the normal. After 4-6 hours it will start again. I think that it must be heat related or something. But I cannot put my finger on it. It must be a simple solution but I am stumped can you help??? Thanks a million..

I know that Mercedes puts a lot of protection circuits into the engine to prevent running whilst there is a defect of some kind.

But I cant help wondering if the fuel pressure is too low and the fuel filter clogged. I wouldnt know but I wonder if there is a fuel pressure sensor that cuts the engine if it is too low. Then after some time the pressure builds up again and the car runs for another 10 min. Only a guess at this stage.

Oil pressure might be another thing to look at.

Modz ... enjoy the difference. www.benzmodz.com

niether one of those are things mb does, or no other
manufacturer to my knowledge does. some possibilites
though is the starter relay or solenoid. really if your not technically inclined, its something to take to the dealer.

We have a 86 Toyota Corolla that has a carb. Starts super and choke setup works great. But if you try to drive it away before it is well warmed up and then some (15 minutes maybe) it will die and not restart for about 20 minutes to 1/2 hour. Can't figure out what it is but it is a complicated set of relays, selinoids, vacuum hoses galore so we just live with it. Try letting it warm up for a bit longer. Other than that its obviously electrical so work backwards. What power do you have when it stops and what dont you have, etc.... Could be something in the wiring of the ignition if you are getting no starter, etc.
