RE: c240 rwd in snow???

Hi all: I have a c220 and its ok on soft snow, but on frozen snow and ice, its pretty scarey. I usually put about 25 or more pounds of salt in the trunk to weigh down the rear tires but I'm on pins and needles when I take the car out. I have all-season tires on.

RE: c240 rwd in snow???

In my experience, All-season tires are mediocre at best in ALL driving conditions. Installing a dedicated snow tire on all four wheels has meant the difference between stopping short of an intersection and sliding right into cross traffic. This benefits all auto makes, not just M-B.

A friend with a new Mazda thought his car actually picked up speed during a slide. He ordered snow/ice tires the next day.

Oh yeah, FWD only helps when you start from a standstill. It could actually hurt during braking on poor traction conditions.
